The BIOSYNERGY is European Union 6 FP RTD Integrated Project to develop technology and conceptual designs (including integrated chain assessments) of innovative BIOrefinery processes for relevant market competitive and environmental-friendly SYNthesis of bio-products – chemicals and/or materials – together with the production of secondary enERGY carriers – transportation fuels, power and/or CHP. This IP combines both biochemical and thermochemical pathways with process development from lab-scale to demonstration at pilot-scale. It will use side-streams of current bioethanol production plants to create added value, thereby making bioethanol production more cost competitive. BIOSYNERGY will create great potential impact as it will set-up pilot plant for testing of the most promising technologies for a “bioethanol side-streams” biorefinery, in close collaboration with the “lignocellulose to bioethanol” Greencell pilot plant, currently under construction in Salamanca, Spain.
The Biosynergy Project results in significant improve technology for wider renewable energy application and reduction of greenhouse gas emmission from eenrgy and tranport sector.
The page is dedicated to activities executed by Główny Instytut Górnictwa as a partner in Project repospnsible for devloping of novel methods for separation of ethanol and other products (including lactate acid) from the fermentation brine.
